Help with Wikis!
What is a wiki??
If you are not familiar with wikis, this quick guide is very helpful!

Adding information to a wiki page:

  • Click on the page you want
  • At top of page click "edit this page"
  • Scroll to where you want to add information and type in your info
  • Click "save"

Uploading files to the wiki!

  • Click on the page you want (left menu under "navigation").
  • Once on the page, click "edit this page" at the top of the page.
  • Put the cursor where on the page you want to insert your file.
  • Click on the file icon at the top of the page.
  • A dialogue box appear for you to insert a file.
  • Click "upload file."
  • Click "browse," which will bring you to the files on your computer (like if you were going to attach a document).
  • Double click on the file you want to upload. The file will then appear at the top of the dialogue box.
  • Double click on the file to insert into the wiki page.
  • Remember to click save!

Linking something on the wiki to another website:

  • Go online and find your source
  • Copy the link from the website
  • Go to the wikipage where you want to add your link
  • Type an explanation of your link
  • Highlight the text that you want to link (for example, above you will see "wikis in plain English" in blue--that's the text that was highlighted to link)
  • Go to "link" at the top tool bar
  • Click "external link" in the next dialogue box
  • Paste the web address in the blank address box
  • Click "Add link"
